Things you should have! NOTE: in order for all of these procedures to work, you should have two physical drives. And each of the drives should be divided into at least two partitions.
If you want to partition your drives without having to reinstall Windows, you can use PartitionMagic.
If you don't have too much to back up you might be able to get by with just a CD or DVD burner.
Partition Magic. With this software you can partition your existing hard drive(s) without having to reinstall your operating system. Take a peek at the details at Smantec.com.
SYMANTEC NORTON GHOST. It is used to make image files of entire drives and/or partitions. I only use it to back up my C: drive which has only the OS and installed programs. See more about it at Symantec.com.
OKAY! Here are some notes on the procedures that I use.
Frequently: I create data backups. I just copy those files to a partition of the second drive. That way if I have a drive failure the data is still on the remaining drive.
Weekly: (not always every week) I backup my entire C: drive onto the second drive using Norton Ghost.
